UNDERSTANDING SEXUAL ASSAULT

Studies show:

1 in 4 female college students will experience some form of nonconsensual sexual activity by graduation.1

50% of reported sexual assaults on college campuses involve alcohol.2

Like campus drinking, sexual assault is a critical issue that affects an entire college campus; there is even recent pressure from the US Department of Education to make this an institutional priority (Dear Colleague Letter). To help you address this issue, Outside The Classroom has created Haven, higher education's first compliance-based program for primary sexual assault prevention. The program uses a non-opinionated tone and style to provide important prevention skills and strategies to all students.

Haven relies on proven prevention theories and educational strategies to help students understand the many aspects of the sexual assault issue.

I found the sexual assault info to be very informative. These were things I didn't know about. They don't teach you this in high school.

-Student comment about Haven

The program's primary focus is to educate students about relationships and decision-making,
including:

  • Ethics of relationships
  • Alcohol's effect on relationships and the ability to give consent
  • Important definitions and debunking of myths associated with sexual assault

The program is also customizable, allowing you to include campus-specific links and resources to ensure your students have the localized information they need.

Haven can be implemented as a module within AlcoholEdu for College, or as a standalone program. contact us to request a demo
