College Alc
CURRICULUM TEAM
College Alc was created by Dr. David Wyrick, Professor of Public Health Education at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, in collaboration with substance abuse prevention researcher, Dr. Melodie Fearnow-Kenney. Dr. Wyrick has been awarded more than a dozen grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and has an impressive track record of conducting groundbreaking substance abuse prevention research.
Dr. Wyrick also serves as the Chair for the Early Career Preventionist Network, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Society for Prevention Research, and a reviewer for the journal Prevention Science. He was recently awarded funding from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (through the BELL initiative) to develop a new graduate course in Public Health Education called Promoting and Protecting Health through Entrepreneurship.
Outside The Classroom has partnered with Dr. Wyrick to broaden its service offering by providing College Alc an affordable alternative for institutions with near-term budget challenges who would like to provide their first-year students with an evidence-based online alcohol education program. The partnership also creates opportunities for collaboration on research initiatives that will offer new insights into alcohol and other drug use among adolescents and young adults.
