AlcoholEdu® for High School Media Competition

2011 WINNERS

Outside The Classroom invites high school students across the country to enter the 2011 AlcoholEdu for High School Media Media CompetitionCompetition by creating a billboard or video that show the reasons why students choose not to drink. We are looking for innovative designs and messages! Students should focus on the positive things: that most students don’t drink, and why it’s actually the better and “cooler” decision not to drink.

First Place

First Place: Anna Dodd, Maddie Kroll, Keith Hutchins, Emma Truat, Casey Haggerty, Nicole Trudeau, Casey Laketos, and Kaitlin Curtin, of Howell High School, Howell, MI. Students were supported by their teacher, John Mozdzierz.

"My video is a way to speak to teenagers about alcohol, and the one thing that makes this video so genuine, is that I'm a teenager that doesn't drink, because I don't need it. None of us do."

-Howell High School student

Outside The Classroom was impressed by the unique video editing and use of music that made making healthy decisions around alcohol use seem “cool.” It was undeniable how much effort was put into this project!
