Outside The Classroom is pleased to present the 2008-2009 Excellence in Student Leadership Awards, which will recognize up to six college students who have distinguished themselves as leaders in alcohol prevention efforts on their campus or in their Greek organization. Who is eligible to receive an award?
All students who are currently enrolled at institutions or who are members in good standing of Greek organizations that implement AlcoholEdu® for College, AlcoholEdu for Sanctions, or GreekLifeEdu may be nominated. The nominee must have completed AlcoholEdu for College or AlcoholEdu for Sanctions. To view a list of recipients from previous years, click here.
What types of initiatives qualify a student for this award?
This award is designed to recognize students who have positively influenced campus culture in some way, whether it's leadership in Alcohol-Free or Late-Night Programming, Policy Change, Service-Learning, Academic Leadership, or other campus initiatives.
Who can submit nominations?
Nominations may be submitted by any professional staff member or student at institutions or Greek organizations that implement AlcoholEdu for College, AlcoholEdu for Sanctions, or GreekLifeEdu.
How do I nominate a student for an award?
Complete the online registration form by October 15, 2008 to receive a Prevention Excellence Awards application.
How do I nominate a student for a Greek Leadership Award?
Two awards will be given specifically to students who are members of Greek organizations and have demonstrated leadership within that particular organization. Be sure to specify on the cover sheet that you are nominating a student for a Greek Leadership Award.
What are the criteria for this award?
All nomination packets must include a cover sheet, a letter of support, and up to a three-page narrative. For complete details, please register to receive an application.
Can a student be nominated for this award if his/her institution is also applying for another Prevention Excellence Award?
Yes. However, a separate application must be completed for each award.
Can I submit my application electronically?
Yes. Completed nomination packets can be emailed to Kimberley Timpf at prevpractice@outsidetheclassroom.com or submitted in hard copy.
