AlcoholEdu® Media Competition: Original Artwork

Students wishing to compete in the original artwork category of the AlcoholEdu Media Competition should:

• Develop 1-3 posters that help decrease the positive expectations that college students may have about drinking alcohol, thus encouraging safe and healthy drinking behaviors. Please click here specific details. If you submit more than one poster design, the designs of each poster should be part of a series, complementing each other with the same look and feel.

Original Art Competition Rules

Please read all of the rules and information below before submitting a poster. Your submission will constitute an agreement to the rules and information on this page.

• Design a series of 1-3 posters that encourage safe and healthy drinking behaviors by helping decrease the positive expectations that college students may have about drinking.
• Posters should be formatted as PDF or JPG image. (Please note: Competition winners will be asked to produce a CMYK, .tif, or high-resolution PDF file that is 11"x17" at 300 DPI or higher. Qwark Express or Indesign files will also be accepted at that stage.)
• Include a cover sheet with your name, school, year, email address, and Greek organization (if applicable) on a cover sheet.
• Please copy and paste the following "Release Statement" on your cover sheet. Please sign your name after the statement to acknowledge your acceptance of the Release Statement:

  "I certify that the poster(s) being submitted are original artwork developed by myself. I understand that, upon submission, the poster design(s) becomes the sole property of Outside The Classroom, and that the company may use excerpts or the entire submission for public outreach related to the 2008 AlcoholEdu Media Competition and/or educational purposes."

• Mail three (3) copies of both your cover page and CD or DVD containing you poster design(s) to:

  All submissions must be received by Friday, April 11, 2008.

• All entries must be original material. Any and all copyrighted materials will not be considered.
• Entries that have received awards from other competitions are ineligible.

Things You Should Know Before You Enter

How Will Your Poster Design(s) Be Judged?
Posters will be judged by qualified experts selected by Outside The Classroom. Submissions will be judged on:

• The ability of the submission to convey a clear and positive take-away message
• The cohesiveness of the poster series (if applicable)
• Creativity
• How well the submission addresses the subject of college alcohol prevention

The decisions of the judges are final. Participants will be notified of decisions no later than June 30, 2008. Please do not call or email Outside The Classroom for information about the status of your submission.

Who Will See My Poster Design(s)?
Winning submissions will be featured on Outside The Classroom's Web site and in its e-newsletter, PreventionEdu. School and Greek organization administrators will receive copies of any poster designs from their students (without the students' names) at the end of the competition.

How Will I Know If My Submission Was Selected As A Winner?
Outside The Classroom will contact all winners either by email. Winners will be notified in June 2008. Please do not contact Outside The Classroom to ask about the status of your submission.

How Should I Submit My Poster Design(s)?
Please mail three (3) copies of both your cover page and CD or DVD containing your poster design(s) to:

Who retains rights to my posters after the competition?
Outside The Classroom will retain rights to all submissions after the competition.
