AlcoholEdu® Media Competition: Essay

Students wishing to compete in the essay category should write an essay of no more than 1,000 words on one of the following topics:

  1. Students often come to college thinking that everybody drinks and that, to "fit in," they must take part in the party scene. Having experienced college life, explain whether this mindset is or is not a valid impression. Be sure to include any campus resources that helped you in your transition to college.
  2. What specific parts of the college experience do you think encourage some students to drink heavily? How do you think college students can promote a healthier environment?
  3. Describe your most memorable social experience since you've been in college and why it had such a big effect on you. What could colleges and universities do to create more opportunities like these?
