AlcoholEdu® Media Competition: Video

Students wishing to compete in the video category of the AlcoholEdu Media Competition should develop a short video, no more than 5 minutes in length, that addresses one of the following topics:

  1. Students often come to college thinking that everybody drinks and that, to "fit in," they must take part in the party scene. Prepare a documentary that shows a realistic illustration of your campus, explaining how this mindset is or is not a valid impression of college life.
  2. Our society is bombarded with images of college students partying -- from MTV spring break specials to big screen hits like Animal House. Oftentimes, these portrayals misrepresent the realistic impact of alcohol. Prepare a documentary that addresses this discrepancy, debunking the myth that only good things happen to those drinking alcohol and helping to decrease the positive expectations that college students may have about drinking. Please click here for specific details.

PLEASE NOTE: Outside The Classroom in no way advocates the deliberate use of alcohol whether directly or indirectly as part of the production of any video. We are NOT looking for exposés on student partying, including images of inebriated students, underage drinking, nudity, or violence. Instead, we are looking for submissions that include thoughtful illustrations of the culture or counterculture on college campuses. All submissions must adhere to this rule.
