Kappa Alpha Theta

Kappa Alpha Theta, the first Greek-letter fraternity for women, is giving AlcoholEdu to its 12,000 freshmen, sophomore and junior members this fall. Representing over 120 separate chapters located on campuses nationwide, this represents the most geographically diverse implementation of AlcoholEdu wide-ranging to date. The organization will also provide AlcoholEdu to all new members for the next four years, yielding a critical mass of informed students who know the facts about alcohol.

"The goal of alcohol education is to provide our members with information on what alcohol does to their bodies so they understand the medical impact and also to provide them with the tools they need to make responsible decisions in social situations in college and beyond," said Kathy Salvemini, Vice President of Education at Kappa Alpha Theta. "This is a 'lifestyle' education program that our members should be able to use throughout their adult lives."

Implementing the AlcoholEdu course for all its members is a cornerstone of a broad educational program Kappa Alpha Theta has developed that also includes health issues, leadership, drug education, life skills, Fraternity topics and community awareness.

Kappa Alpha Theta was the first Greek-letter fraternity for women. It has 123 chapters at colleges and universities across the US and Canada, with total initiated members numbering more than 175,000. Founded in 1870, Kappa Alpha Theta offers a nurturing environment on both large and small campuses, promoting academic excellence and providing growth and leadership opportunities for young men and women.

More information on Kappa Alpha Theta is available at its Web site.
