Outside The Classroom raises $2.5M More in VC

November 24, 2003

Online alcohol prevention education company Outside The Classroom has raised $2.5 million in venture capital to support sales and new product development.

Newton-based Outside The Classroom's programs are designed for college and high school students.

The company's latest round includes new investor Mayport Venture Partners LLC of Jacksonville, Fla., and three existing investors: AngelHealthcare Investors LLC of Boston, Lexington-based CommonAngels and Sherbrooke Capital of Newton Lower Falls.

So far, investors have poured $8 million into Outside The Classroom since the company was founded in 2000.

The company's flagship product, AlcoholEdu for College, a preventative program for groups of students, is already used on more than 300 campuses. Last month, Outside The Classroom introduced AlcoholEdu for Sanctions, a prevention program for students who have violated campus drinking polices. Early next year, the company plans to launch AlcoholEdu for High School through a co-marketing program with Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
