Linda Major currently serves as the director of Student Involvement and the project director for "NU Directions," a campus/community coalition initiative at the University of Nebraska (NU) designed to reduce high-risk drinking among college students. NU Directions is one of 10 colleges participating in the "A Matter of Degree" Program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and evaluated by the Harvard School of Public Health.

While employed at LCAD, Major collaborated with the Lincoln City Council to enhance existing municipal alcohol policies, including mandatory management training, zoning amendments and established the Responsible Hospitality Council, a community coalition designed to identify creative solutions to the problems associated with the irresponsible sale and service of alcohol.
Major served on the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention's Expert Panel convened to develop practitioner and community guidelines for environmental approaches to prevent problems related to alcohol availability. She has provided technical assistance on inclusive coalition building and responsible hospitality to communities across the country.
