Alcohol Prevention in Action. The College of William & Mary's Associate Dean of Students, Mark Sikes, will talk about William & Mary's prevention efforts, including why the College has decided to use the AlcoholEdu® online prevention program for all first-year students, and the experiences they are having implementing the course.

Digging into Prevention Research. A discussion about the latest college alcohol prevention research with William DeJong, Ph.D., of the Boston University School of Public Health and Outside The Classroom. Dr. DeJong will summarize the NIAAA-funded Social Norms Marketing Research Project (SNMRP), which featured two multi-site randomized trials of social norms marketing campaigns designed to portray accurate drinking data, correct exaggerated misperceptions of campus drinking norms, thereby drive down alcohol consumption. He will also present surprising data from the SNMRP showing that a large majority of college and university students support stricter alcohol policies and enforcement. Such data can be used to set the stage for campus administrators to implement environmental management approaches, as illustrated by the University of Rhode Island's recent Rhodemap to Safety campaign.

Alcohol Prevention Programs & Measuring their Success. Brandon Busteed, Founder and CEO of Outside The Classroom, will explain how AlcoholEdu can serve as the cornerstone of a comprehensive prevention program and the importance of using "Dashboard Indicators" to track your success.
