Stephen Hoffman, Chairman of the Board
Chief Executive Officer, iJet
Steve Hoffman provides overall leadership to iJET’s business, including strategic direction, planning and execution of the company's growth and development initiatives. He brings more than 28 years of senior leadership experience to the management team. Prior to joining iJET, he served as the CEO of Element K, a business-to-business learning business process outsourcing company, where he repositioned the company for consistent and sustainable market leadership. Element K was acquired by NIIT in 2006 and Hoffman subsequently oversaw the successful integration of the two companies. Prior to Element K, Hoffman served as the President and COO of Blackboard Inc., a leader in enterprise learning software, where he was instrumental in rapidly growing revenues and profits. Previously, Hoffman served as President and CEO of Sylvan Prometric (later, Prometric Thomson Learning), where he established the company as an industry leader as well as dramatically expanded the company's presence globally. Before joining Prometric, Hoffman served in senior management positions at Computer Task Group, an international provider of IT outsourcing and system integration services. Hoffman began his career with IBM. He holds a BA and MBA from the University of Rochester.
Howard Anderson
William Porter Distinguished Lecturer, MIT Sloan School of Management
Howard Anderson, often referred to as the "Father" of the research and advisory firm industry, is widely recognized as a pioneer in the fields of IT and telecommunications. With 30 years experience in the operations of a high-terchnology market research firm, Anderson was a founding partner and senior managing director of YankeeTek Ventures. YankeeTek invests in Internet start-ups, providing access to venture capital, Web hosting and other business services. Investors in YankeeTek include the Yankee Group, Battery Ventures and other leading venture capital firms. In 1983, Anderson co-founded Battery Ventures, a national venture capital firm that specializes in high potential technology investments in the communications, software and Internet/e-commerce markets. He was also founder and chairman of The Yankee Group, a high-technology research and consulting firm, where he served as President and CEO from 1970 until 1999.
Anderson is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and trade shows, and has presented at Comdex Executive, Executive Interop and at seminars sponsored by MIT. He received the prestigious William Porter Distinguished Lecturer appointment from the MIT Sloan School of Management. In addition, he is widely quoted in top business and industry publications, including The New York Times, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, Fortune and Forbes. Anderson currently teaches a course on Internet Entrepreneurship at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Business School.
Brandon Busteed
Founder and CEO, Outside The Classroom
Brandon Busteed brings one of the most unique and visionary perspectives in the industry to Outside The Classroom. His prior experiences as a student leader, nonprofit co-founder, technology salesman and university trustee brought forth the synergies that ultimately led to Outside The Classroom. Prior to Outside The Classroom, Busteed co-founded CIRCLe Network, a nationally-focused nonprofit organization currently operated from NASPA's national headquarters, and was Director of Conference Sponsorship and Marketing for The Yankee Group, a technology market research firm. Busteed is a former Duke University trustee and he currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Entrepreneurs' Foundation of New England and the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy Board of Visitors at Duke University.
John K. Giannuzzi
Managing General Partner, Sherbrooke Capital
John Giannuzzi has led the firm's investments in Cooke Pharma, Oregon Chai, HealtheTech, Outside The Classroom and Advanced BioNutrition. Giannuzzi sits on the Board of Directors of each company. Prior to joining Sherbrooke Capital, Giannuzzi was Managing Director and Group Head at BankBoston and a member of the Board of Directors and the Investment Committee of BancBoston Capital, a $1.5 billion equity fund.
Prior to joining BankBoston, Giannuzzi was a Senior Manager in Corporate Development and Strategic Planning at MCI Communications Corp. and a Management Consultant with Booz, Allen and Hamilton, Inc. Giannuzzi holds a master's degree from American University and a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University.
Larry Moneta
Vice President for Student Affairs, Duke University
Larry Moneta is Vice President for Student Affairs at Duke University where he leads the central planning, policy formation and coordinating agency for the University concerning student issues. Dr. Moneta worked in student affairs on a variety of campuses before joining the Duke community in August 2001, most recently at the University of Pennsylvania as Associate Vice President for Campus Services from 1997 to 2001 and Associate Vice Provost for University Life from 1992 to1997. He received his Ed.D. and B.S. from the University of Massachusetts and his M.Ed. from Springfield College.
In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Moneta teaches a wide variety of courses, consults for institutions across the country and presents regularly at conferences and workshops. He is an active member of NASPA, ACPA and ACUHO-I, serving NASPA most recently as a member of its National Academy for Leadership and Executive Effectiveness Board (currently) and Director of the NASPA Foundation Board (2000). Dr. Moneta's publications include The Influence of Technology on the Management of Student Services, Future Issues in Serving Students at Metropolitan Universities (both New Directions in Student Services monographs, 1998) and Future Trends in Student Affairs for NASPA's Leadership Exchange.
Kerry K. Muse
Director, Sherbrooke Capital
Kerry Muse takes part in reviewing the broad universe of Health and Wellness investments and screening prospective investments according to the firm's investment selection criteria. She also assists Sherbrooke Capital's management team with the analysis of specific investment opportunities and participates in its due diligence process. In addition, Muse coordinates interactions between Sherbrooke Capital and its outside experts. Prior to joining Sherbrooke, Muse spent nine years working in company and general management for several non-profit organizations, including American Ballet Theatre, Merce Cunningham, and Martha Graham Dance Theater. Muse holds an undergraduate degree from George Washington University and an MBA from Boston University.
Tyler S. Wick
Co-Founder, Ticonderoga Capital
Tyler Wick co-founded Ticonderoga and has over thirteen years of industry tenure including eleven years of private equity experience. His private equity experience includes serving as an Associate at Dillon Read Venture Capital and ten years at Ticonderoga Capital. Previously, Wick was an Associate in the healthcare practice of the investment-banking group of Advest, Inc., where he focused on private placements and mergers and acquisitions for middle market healthcare services companies. Prior to Advest, he was a consultant with the Mentor Group, an international legal consulting firm. Wick is also a member of the Board of Directors of AFS Technologies, ALN Medical Management, Brainshark and Octagon Research, and is an Observer to the Boards of nuBridges and Construction Software Technologies. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of NERASBIC and serves on the Board of Directors for the Boston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth. Wick received a B.A. degree Cum Laude from Amherst College.
